James A. Apperson, 72, passed away at 10:20 PM Friday, September 28, 2007, at his home in Kevil. He was a graduate of Heath High School and a retired member of Union Local 181. Jim was an avid hunter and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association as well as an ardent Jeff Gordon fan.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Roberta Lawrence Apperson of Kevil and one daughter, Deborah Walker (Guy) of Gulf Shores, Alabama. He leaves four sisters, Angie Apperson of Kevil, Ruth Purvis (William) and Sue Sills of Paducah, and Jane Moore of Hammond, Indiana; three grandchildren, Lawrence Arthur Del La Garza of St. Petersburg, Florida, Derrik James Del La Garza and Douglas Eugene Walker at home in Gulf Shores; and his brother-in-law, George Lawrence of Kevil.
Two sisters, Mary Bondurant and Agnes Ward, preceded him in death. His parents were James H. Apperson and Myrtle Shelby Apperson.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at Jones Funeral Home of Kevil. Burial will be in Bethel Christian Church Cemetery. visitation was from 5 - 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be made in Jim's name to Lourdes Hospice, 2855 Jackson St. Paducah, KY 42003.
