Bernece Hines, 101 of McCracken County, passed away at 6:06 PM Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Life Care
Center of La Center. She was born in Moline, Illinois on August 30, 1905 and was a member of Grace Episcopal
Church in Paducah.
Bernece had unique ideas and projects to improve the community and the lives of families. She was a leader in 4-
H Clubs and Girl Scouts; held local and state leadership positions in KY Farm Bureau Women, University of KY
Extension Homemakers, and was named a KY Master Homemaker in 1955. She served as McCracken County
Women’s Campaign Chairman for Vice President Alben Barkley, and was instrumental in bringing rural electricity
to McCracken County.
She is survived by 5 daughters, Beverly Edwards of Wickliffe; two sets of twins, Nancy Romine of Lexington,
Alabama, and Patsy King of Mesa, Arizona, and Marilyn Peck of Frankfort, KY and Carolyn Hines of Paducah; 13
grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Hines, 1 son, 3 brothers, 2 great grandchildren, and her
parents, Joseph Young and Harriet Lamb Young.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at a later date at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.

message = Grandmother, Maybe we will do again what we have done many times before. Most don't know that
we had many chats and small snacks as I was working on the house or yard or had finished up. All Bible
resurections, all nine of them took place here on the earth and so hopefully we will do that again. Ray

Graveside services and interment for Bernece Hines will be held Saturday, May 12, 2:00 PM at Mount Kenton
Cemetery in Paducah. Rev Elizabeth Wade and Dr. Eddie Bromley will officiate. Mrs. Hines passed away March
22. Care entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of LaCenter.
