Maria Silgals Napier passed away in Summerville, SC on April 9, 2007.
Mrs. Napier, a native of Germany, was born on April 8, 1920, the daughter of Arnold Ludwig and Maria Kitzinger
Ludwig. She immigrated to the United States in 1950 with her husband Dr. Karl Robert Silgals. She was a resident
of LaCenter and Paducah Ky for 35 years.
Dr. Silgals practiced veterinary medicine in La Center from 1950 until his death in 1966. Mrs. Napier later married B.
Walter Napier and lived in Paducah where they managed the Travelodge Motel. Upon Mr. Napier’s death she retired
to Charleston, SC where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Napier is survived by one son, Dr. Robert Silgals and his wife Sharon of Hanahan, SC; two grandchildren,
Jennifer Silgals of Portland, Oregon and Rob Silgals of Summerville, SC; a step granddaughter, Jamie Swift and her
husband Christopher of North Charleston, SC, and great granddaughter, Parker Swift.
Respectswere paid at Jones Funeral Home in La Center Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Private
graveside services were held the following day.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leads Ave. North
Charleston SC, 29405.

Church of Paducah and always admired her grace & talents. What a lady! She
moved to SC and we moved in IN and lost touch with each other. I
treasure a picture with seashells that she made for us. Jack & Elda Myers
